Helwan University is a public university. It was established on July 26, 1975, in Cairo, Egypt. Helwan University is a member of the Egyptian supreme council of universities. The establishment of this university is dated back from the time of Mohammad Ali of Egypt.
Helwan University is a unique model in Egyptian universities. It is considered to be the finest institution in Arts, Fine arts, applied arts, Art education, Music Education, and Physical Education facilities.
Helwan University is situated in the heart of the city, it is the oldest and among the most recent of 3 major government universities in Cairo. It has many small institutions affiliated to it running many faculties. The faculty of applied arts was established in 1983 while the faculty of Fine arts and Art education were established in 1908 respectively.
